Steven Ogg and Jayson Warner Smith star in Emancipation

Walking Dead viewers will be excited to learn that this December, they will be able to see Steven Ogg and Jayson Warner Smith in the upcoming Emancipation movie. Ogg is known for his portrayal of Simon, and Smith is known as Gavin in TWD. Both were members of Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) saviors.

Emancipation is based on the true story of Gordon, an escaped slave whose scourged back photos were used by abolitionists to shed light on the treatment of slaves during the Civil War. The movie is directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by William N. Collage.

The story follows Peter (Will Smith), a slave who escapes from a Louisiana Plantation and his journey north as he evades cold-blooded killers sent to retrieve him. He would eventually make it north and join the Union Army.

The movie also stars Ben Foster, Charmaine Bingwa, David Denman, Gilbert Owuor, Mustafa Shakir, Grant Harvey, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Timothy Hutton, Jabbar Lewis, Paul Ben-Victor and Michael Luwoye.

Steven Ogg portrays Sergeant Howard and Jayson Warner Smith as Captain John Lyons.

Emancipation had its world premiere on October 1, 2022, in Washington, DC. The movie will release in select theaters on December 2 and then release on Apple TV+ on December 9.

Steven Ogg

Ogg was most recently seen starring in Snowpiercer and Sprung.  Next, you can see him in Now I See, Dresden Sun, Hazard and Civil.

He will also star in The Ghost Trap, which reunites Ogg with Xander Berkeley, who played Gregory on TWD.

Jayson Warner Smith

Warner Smith recently starred in Netflix’s Outer Banks and Where the Crawdads Sing movie adaptation. Next, he will star in Full Ride, Verified, and Sebastian.

He will also star in a new short, Chipper. You can view the trailer here. The synopsis reads: After receiving a mysterious letter, a wayward son returns to his childhood home to wrestle with a dark family secret.
