The Walking Dead season 11

Be carful what you compromise.

The current situation our heroes in The Walking Dead find themselves in was borne out of a deal struck between their communities and the Commonwealth, wherein they joined in an alliance (And some even joined the community outright) in exchange for help rebuilding Alexandria after its destruction by the Whisperers.

However, it would seem that, at least according to Lance Hornsby, anyway, the deal also meant that the Virginia communities handed over a certain amount of autonomy, as he decided he was within his authority to just annex Alexandria, Hilltop, and Oceanside.

Most deals involve a certain amount of compromise, each party has to give up something they might want to come to a mutual agreement, but you need to be careful about what, exactly, it is that you wind up compromising.

Make sure you understand fully what the other party thinks they’re getting in the deal. If their expectations are more than you’re comfortable giving up — Freedom, security, peace of mind, independence, etc. — then you should respectfully bail out of that deal because I can guarantee you will come to regret it. You may not regret it immediately, but rest assured, when the day comes that your “ally” has turned your base into a veritable police state, you will ask yourself how in the Hell that happened.

Whatever it is you’re giving up in whatever deal you’re making, make sure it’s something you can live with losing. If it isn’t…maybe you shouldn’t be giving it up.
