Walking Dead alum Erik Jensen cast in The Collaboration
By Renee Hansen
Remember way back to season 5 of The Walking Dead? Beth (Emily Kinney) befriended a doctor at Grady Memorial Hospital named Dr. Steven Edwards. He is a highly intelligent man who sadly was also a coward, which is not a good trait in an apocalypse. Edwards and the others chose to stay at the hospital after their leader Dawn (Christine Woods), was killed. And in a 2020 interview with TWDs Greg Nicotero, he stated that the hospital survivors eventually died. Edwards was portrayed by Erik Jensen, who Deadline reports has now been cast in a Broadway production, The Collaboration.
The play did very well in London and will now see its American debut at Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. This Manhattan Theatre Club production will begin previews on November 29 ahead of its December 20 opening night. Jensen was announced with Krysta Rodriguez, and the pair will join previously announced Paul Bettany and Jeremy Pope.
The story tells of the artist collaboration of Andy Warhol (Bettany) and Jean-Michel Basquiat (Pope). Rodriguez has been cast as Maya, Basquiat’s girlfriend, and Jensen will play the art dealer and gallery owner who brings Warhol and Basquiat together, Bruno Bischofberger.
The Walking Dead – Erik Jensen
Jensen is well known for his roles in Mr. Robot, For Life, Mindhunter, The Americans, and many more.
Next, he will star in a thriller, Viral, with Sarah Silverman and Blair Underwood, who also serves as director for this independent film. Underwood plays Andrew, dealing with the disappearance of his wife. He meets Silverman’s Emilia, and they begin a romantic relationship. Both have their demons to deal with, and this story explores if they are strong enough to overcome their pasts and manage their mental illnesses to find happiness together. Jensen plays a character name, Liam.
