By Renee Hansen
Karen David is well known in The Walking Dead universe for her portrayal of Grace on Fear the Walking Dead. Introduced in season 5, Grace has endured the apocalypse and a tremendous amount of heartbreak. Collider reports that David has been cast in a new film, Isabel’s Garden.
The film is directed and written by Katherine Rich, who makes her feature film debut with Isabel’s Garden. Rich has written, directed, and starred in several of her own short films but won’t be seen on screen in this movie.
David will play the lead, Maya, a workaholic whose life is dramatically altered when a loved one is killed in an accident. Several other cast members were announced, including Gabriela Flores, Valery M. Ortiz, Jayne Taini, and Manuel Rafael Lozano.
David shared her excitement about the project on Instagram.
Fear the Walking Dead – Karen David
The last we saw of David’s Grace in season 7 of Fear the Walking Dead, she and the others were gearing up for a trip on the water to locate a new place to live. Morgan (Lennie James) had taken their daughter Mo away to keep her safe but met with the returning character Madison (Kim Dickens), who works for the mysterious PADRE.
This organization is in the business of stealing children, a job that Madison was tasked with. Having never met Morgan, she took his child and turned her over to PADRE. In the final scene of season 7, Morgan and Madison are heading, via boat, to meet with the people at PADRE to try and get Mo back.
The eighth season began filming in August 2022 in Savannah, Georgia. This will significantly alter the landscape, and showrunners have promised to reinvent the series.
