This week’s episode of The Walking Dead reintroduced a character many viewers forgot about. While working at the Commonwealth labor camp, Princess (Paola Lázaro) tells Ezekiel (Khary Payton) that one of their fellow workers is Tyler Davis (Cameron Roberts) and that he might be useful.

This article has spoilers for The Walking Dead season 11, episode 22, “Faith.”

Tyler Davis is the Commonwealth soldier who Princess beat in the train car during the season 10 episode “Splinter.” The next time Davis is seen, he poses as a waiter at Governor Milton’s (Laila Robins) upper-class ball after being dishonorably discharged from the military. When the governor states that she cares for all citizens, he accuses her of not protecting the lower classes and holds Max (Margot Bingham) hostage at knifepoint.

He escapes the ball but is eventually captured, and when the guards finally take him away, he shouts, “resist the Commonwealth! Visibility for workers, equality for all!”

The Walking Dead – Tyler Davis

Connie (Lauren Ridloff), while working for the Commonwealth newspaper, tries to run a story about Davis’ actions at the ball. This idea is rejected by her boss, who tells her to drop it. Later she and Kelly (Angel Theory) discover Davis is hospitalized and being treated for psychological issues. They try questioning Mercer (Michael James Shaw), but he declines to answer.

Mercer would soon discover that Davis was moved to a new location without his authorization. And shortly after this, Connie would receive a mysterious list of names, including Tyler Davis. This list would be discovered to list the names of many missing citizens of the Commonwealth.

In the recent episode, he was seen working at the labor camp, and Ezekiel and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) tried to persuade him to join their mission. He refuses as he says it’s been tried before, and people end up dead.

At the end of the episode, when Negan and his wife Annie (Medina Senghore) are in front of the firing squad, and Ezekiel and others come forward to protect them, Davis is one who joins the group. If his group joins our survivors, they might just have a chance.
