Is Fear the Walking Dead cancelled 2022?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead universe is ripe with several spinoff series set to release in 2023. After the flagship series airs its final episode on November 20, 2022, fans can breathe easy knowing there are many more stories to come. One spinoff that has been overlooked, due to the excitement of the upcoming series, is the original spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead.
The series saw its premiere in 2015 and isn’t a direct spinoff, but it takes place in the same world as TWD. So much so that three characters crossed over from the main series. Morgan (Lennie James) came to Fear TWD during its fourth season. In season 5, Dwight (Austin Amelio) and his wife Sherry (Christine Evangelista) would also make the move to this series.
Season 7 is the most recent of Fear TWD, but it was met with tepid responses from fans. Throughout season 7, the survivors tried to live in a nuclear wasteland and, in the end, decided it would be best to relocate to a safer place.
This season saw the return of fan-favorite Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and the departure of her daughter Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Althea (Maggie Grace). There was a massive list of lives lost this season, including Wes (Colby Hollman), John Dorie Sr. (Keith Carradine), and Howard (Omid Abtahi).
Is Fear the Walking Dead canceled?
Luckily for fans of the series, the answer is NO! Fear the Walking Dead has been renewed for an eighth season. The last several seasons were filmed in Austin, Texas, but at the end of 2021, it was announced that filming would be moved to Savannah, Georiga. Showrunners have promised that with the new location will also be a reinvention of the series. The series is currently filming for this season, and it’s possible that the first part of the season could be released in early 2023.
The upcoming season will reveal more about PADRE, a location long sought after but never found. In the season finale, Morgan learned that Madison works for this organization that steals children away from their parents.
