Carol Peletier is a character from The Walking Dead series and comic storylines. Portrayed by Melissa McBride in the series, this is one of only two characters who starred throughout the 11 seasons of the series. The Walking Dead recently aired its series finale, closing this chapter of TWDU. Did Carol die in the finale?

On November 20, 2022, the 177th episode of The Walking Dead, “Rest in Peace,” aired on AMC. This closed out this storyline in the TWD, but several spinoff series are coming that will significantly expand the universe, even taking one story to France.

In the series finale, Carol plays a vital part in taking down Pamela Milton (Laila Robins), governor of the Commonwealth. She is always thinking at least five steps ahead of everyone else and isn’t afraid to push forward to complete the goals. Although in a series finale, anyone can die, fans were pleased to see that after the 1-year time jump, Carol was alive and well and living a great life.

The Walking Dead – Carol Peletier

The comic version of Carol didn’t last very long in that story. She sacrificed herself to a walker, choosing to end it all instead of facing the apocalyptic world. Many viewers thought Milton would do this when she saw the reanimated version of Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton).

Carol has lost much along the way but has always retained her very close relationship with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), the second character to star throughout the series. They have similar stories of abuse, creating a bond that will never be broken.

In the finale, Carol and Daryl shared some emotional moments as they said their goodbyes. Most viewers believe this sounded as much like a Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus conversation as a conversation between their characters. When they exchanged “I Love Yous,” the Carol and Daryl fans went wild.

McBride was going to star in a spinoff with Reedus, but after twelve years of filming and some personal reason, she opted out of the series that will now feature only Daryl. Fans were devastated by this news but have respected McBride’s decision.

Reedus, McBride, and showrunner Angela Kang have all teased that Carol’s story isn’t over. Hopefully, we will see her again soon.
