The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon series has been filming for a few weeks, but little is known about the series. Norman Reedus will reprise his role for the spinoff and find himself transported to France. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor tells fans, “The story’s way different. The characters are way different.”

In another interview with EW, AMC president Dan McDermott was forthcoming, stating that the series follows Daryl as he wakes up on the European continent and tries to decipher what has gone on. He has no idea how he arrived or how he will get home.

Three weeks into production of the new series and Reedus has nothing but good things to say. He says all involved are incredibly excited. It was recently announced that Clémence Poésy and Adam Nagaitis had been added to the cast.

Reedus said don’t expect this series just to be a continuation of The Walking Dead; he describes it as more of a reset, stating it will be way different with a new tone, light, and sound. This is precisely what it should be. The Walking Dead was a fantastic show with an outstanding 12-year run, but if the creators give us the same show with a new title, they should have continued the flagship.

"“People are speaking French around me, and part of my story is me trying to figure out, ‘Is this good or is this bad? Are we about to get into a fight or are we friends right now?’ I’m trying to read lips with the language that I don’t understand and I’m reading body language, I’m reading tone. I’m reading all sorts of things, and it’s confusing and I’m figuring it out. I figure out how to get out of it, and how do I get to the next step. It’s all part of the story. So is it weird? Yeah, it’s weird, but that’s the show we’re making. So it’s working really well.”"

Let’s see Daryl in a brand new light as he navigates uncharted territory within TWDU. During his final scene in TWD series finale, Daryl rides off to parts unknown in search of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). It is common knowledge that Rick has been held by the CRM (Civic Republic Military), which makes viewers wonder if this is the organization that will get Daryl overseas.

One familiar face has followed Reedus to France: producer, director, and SFX guru Greg Nicotero.  Reedus shared that Nicotero is a storyteller familiar with the universe but effortlessly weaves and bobs, finding the in-between elements that make or break the scenes. Reedus and others have teased that other familiar faces could pop up in this series. Only time will if this is true.
