Many fans of The Walking Dead series wait to binge all of the episodes of a season on Netflix. There have been many questions about when the eleventh and final season will release on the streamer. Traditionally a season would premiere on Netflix approximately one month prior to the next season’s premiere. With no future seasons of the main series, when will the final season be released on Netflix?

According to the Netflix Instagram page, the wait for a Netflix release of season 11 will be much shorter than anticipated. The last season of The Walking Dead will be released on January 6, 2023. This is excellent news for fans who have yet to see the 24-episode final season or those wishing to binge season 11 or the entire series once again.

On January 6, Netflix will have the complete series available to its subscribers. Check out the Netflix post below (the fourth slide) to see the official posting of this announcement.

The Walking Dead final season

Season 11 of The Walking Dead began airing on AMC and AMC+ in August 2021. The final season was split into three parts, with eight episodes each. The second part began airing in February 2022, and the last eight were released on October 2.

The Commonwealth was a massive focus in the final season. This new advanced community appeared to be too good to be true, and this would prove accurate as time moved on.

The last episode, “Rest in Peace,” was surprisingly satisfactory as many viewers weren’t sure if The Walking Dead ending would go the way of other series that have disappointed their fans with disappointing endings. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) appeared at the very end. Many fans were adamant that The Walking Dead began with and should end with Rick Grimes.

The Walking Dead universe will continue with several spinoffs. The original spinoff Fear the Walking Dead is currently filming its eighth season, The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere in April 2023, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is filming in France. Rumor has it that the Rick and Michonne spinoff will begin filming in January 2023 in New Jersey.
