Chad Coleman is best known in The Walking Dead universe for his portrayal of Tyreese Williams, brother of Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). This duo came on the scene in season 3 at the prison and quickly became fan favorites. Coleman has been very busy with several new projects and was interviewed for The Official Black Magazine, where he talks about his new Christmas movie and Superman & Lois role.

Coleman portrays Pastor Andre Dillard in TV One’s A Christmas Prayer, directed by Aaron L. Williams, known for Taste of the Town, and written by Skye Dennis who also wrote Underground Kings.

A Christmas Prayer finds Pastor Dillard in a precarious situation. The former alcoholic turned respected leader of a local church is accused of a crime that, if convicted, could see him facing prison time. This situation will challenge his faith as he tries to prove his innocence.

Coleman drew inspiration from his brother, a pastor in the multicultural church, East End Fellowship, in Richmond, Virginia; this church is where the brothers attended as they grew up. In the interview, he stated, “We are in such polarizing times, and my brother is standing in the gap, trying to bring things together.”

The film also stars Rick Perez, The Lady of Rage, Javen Lewis, Marla Gibbs, Stan Shaw, and Antwan Mills.

Chad Coleman in Superman & Lois and more

Next, Coleman will be seen in season 3 of the CW’s Superman & Lois series. He will play the supervillain mobster, Bruno Mannheim. Coleman says this is “one of the most amazing roles” he has been honored to play.

He says that viewers will learn some of Bruno’s backstory that created him into the supervillain. Bruno is a character you don’t immediately see as a villain. Coleman describes him as three-dimensional, as he serves as an inspiration to others.

The third season of Superman & Lois will premiere on the CW on March 14.

Coleman is well known for his other roles, including The Wire, Left 4 Dead 2, The Orville, Invincible, All American, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

He will also star in the upcoming western comedy Astral Plane Drifter with Irena Murphy, Mike Caravella, and Andrew Joseph Perez.
