Walking Dead’s Tom Payne marries Jennifer Akerman for the second time
By Renee Hansen
Congrats to Walking Dead alum Tom Payne and his wife, singer-songwriter Jennifer Akerman, who People reports have tied the knot again. The long-time couple, who began dating in 2013, planned on getting married in April 2020, but the pandemic halted that event, and they were finally able to get married in December 2022. The second ceremony occurred at The Foundry in Queens, New York, on November 12, 2022.
The couple was engaged in 2018, and early in 2022, they welcomed their first child, a son, to the world. Payne shared a heartfelt post on Instagram announcing the birth.
The couple’s long-time friend and Longmire actor Lou Diamond Phillips officiated the recent marriage ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Akerman’s sister, actress Malin Åkerman, Tyson Ritter, and his wife Elena Satine, Bellamy Young, Jamie Chung, Jimmy Akingbola, and Henry Conway.
The couple received matching tattoos after the rings were exchanged. Artist Elë Ramirez rode in on a motorcycle and would then give the couple their new ink. He would later be on hand to tattoo any guests wishing to commemorate the occasion.
Tom Payne new projects
Payne is well known in The Walking Dead universe for his portrayal of Jesus in seasons 6-9. His death was quite a shock and one of the most incredible death scenes of the series.
After leaving TWD, Payne starred as Malcolm Bright in the Prodigal Son series, which aired for two seasons. Despite fans’ requests to continue that series, no announcements of additional seasons have been made.
It was recently announced that Payne joined the cast of Kevin Costner’s new western, Horizon. He joins fellow Walking Dead alum Michael Rooker and Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jamie Campbell Bower, Luke Wilson, Thomas Haden Church, Jena Malone, Alejandro Edda, Tatanka Means, Michael Rooker, Isabelle Fuhrman, Angus Mcfadyen, and Ella Hunt.
Congrats to Tom Payne and Jennifer Akerman on their second wedding!
