Fear the Walking Dead made history in The Walking Dead universe as the first spinoff series of the franchise. The series began airing in 2015, and recently it was announced that the upcoming eighth season would be the last. This news isn’t a shock to those who believed that season 7 was one of the worth of the series.
AMC Networks announced its spring releases, and Fear the Walking Dead will see a season 8 part 1 premiere on May 14, 2023, on AMC and AMC+. The twelve-episode season will release the final six episodes later in 2023.
This season will pick up where season 7 left off with Morgan (Lennie James) and Madison (Kim Dickens) trying to rescue Morgan’s daughter, Mo, from the mysterious PADRE. It was revealed in the season 7 finale that PADRE is in the business of taking children from their parents to raise them how they see fit. There was no information about what they do with the children once they are grown. Madison was shockingly in their employ and was the one who gave Mo to them.
Fear the Walking Dead season 8
Along with James and Dickens, other actors expected to return this season include Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Austin Amelio, Christine Evangelista, Karen David, Jenna Elfman, and Rubén Blades.
Alycia Debnam-Carey departed the series in the penultimate episode of season 7. Alicia, the character Debnam-Carey had portrayed since season 1, decided she needed to remain in Texas. The other survivors left the nuclear fall-out-ridden Texas to seek a new safe place to live while she remained to warn anyone that heard a radio call telling them the Tower was a safe place to live. Fans of Alicia were devastated at the loss of this character, especially since there was no reunion with her mother, Madison, who returned in the following episode.
Season 7 saw fans say goodbye to several characters, including Howard (Omid Abtahi), John Dorie Sr. (Keith Carradine), and Wes (Colby Hollman). See: Fear TWD S7 character deaths. This could mean introducing several other characters for the eighth and final season.
