Fans of Fear the Walking Dead got some exciting and sad news on the same day. The series has been filming its eighth season in the new location of Savannah, Georgia, and viewers have been waiting for a release date announcement. Season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead will release in May 2023 and kick off a year of TWDU content.

AMC Networks released its spring premiere dates which includes the premiere date of Fear the Walking Dead. The series will debut season 8 on AMC and AMC+ on May 14, 2023, with part 1 of the 12-episode season.

The other addition to this news is that this will also be the series’ final season. This isn’t much of a surprise after the tepid response from viewers regarding season 7. But there was a high hope that the event would take a positive turn as fan-favorite Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) returned in season 7 and will be a series regular once again in the final season.

Fear the Walking Dead final season

Season 8 will pick up where seven left off, with Morgan (Lennie James) and Madison heading to PADRE to rescue Mo. PADRE has been a source of mystery since it was first discussed, but it also gave the survivors hope for a new life. But it appears this organization is nothing like they hoped it would be.

The official synopsis from AMC for season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead:

"Morgan and Madison’s hopes to rescue Mo from PADRE did not go as planned. Now, Morgan, Madison and the others they brought to the island are living under PADRE’s cynical rule. With our characters demoralized and dejected, the task of reigniting belief in a better world rests with the person Morgan and Madison set out to rescue in the first place — Morgan’s daughter, Mo."

Returning cast includes  Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Austin Amelio, Christine Evangelista, Karen David, Jenna Elfman, and Rubén Blades.

TWD’s Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple told Deadline

"To conclude Fear the Walking Dead, we’re thrilled to be bringing you one of its most vibrant, inventive, exciting seasons EVER…"

Next. It’s no surprise that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will play a badass in The Boys. dark
