Melissa Ponzio has been making headlines as she has reprised her role in Teen Wolf: The Movie, which is now streaming on Paramount+. She plays Melissa McCall in the series and the new movie. She also portrayed Karen in The Walking Dead series, but who is Karen?

In season 3 of The Walking Dead, the war between Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group and Woodbury, led by the Governor (David Morrissey), was in full swing. The Governor, hellbent on taking over the prison, recruits Woodbury citizens into a militia to carry out his evil plan.

When his plan backfires, the militia escapes and tries to head back to Woodbury. The Governor stops them on the road and massacres all but one, Karen. She was able to hide beneath the dead bodies and was fortunate the Governor ran out of ammo as he was shooting the corpses in the head to ensure they didn’t rise again.

She would eventually be found by Rick, Daryl (Norman Reedus), and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Karen tells them what happened and accompanies them to Woodbury, where she tells Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) what the Governor did. She would eventually be relocated to the Prison with many other Woodbury survivors.

She forms a relationship with Tyreese, and she would eventually die at the hands of Carol (Melissa McBride), who was trying to rid the prison of the flu that Karen contracted.
