The Walking Dead: Dead City is getting a lot of attention with the release of a new teaser clip. The Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) series is the first direct spinoff of The Walking Dead that will see the characters travel to Manhattan. Morgan recently shared a short clip, The Making of The Walking Dead: Dead City, that features Cohan, Morgan, and some new faces.

Dead City will debut on AMC in June 2023 with a timeline set two to three years after the events of The Walking Dead’s final episode. The new teaser reveals that Maggie’s son Hershel is abducted, which takes Maggie and Negan to Manhattan. A new villain, The Croat (Željko Ivanek), appears to be responsible, and Negan’s face is on a wanted poster.

Morgan recently shared a quick look at The Making of…, a video we hope to see more of. The clip features Morgan and Cohan along with Ivanek and Gaius Charles, who plays  Perlie Armstrong and is the man in the teaser holding Negan’s wanted poster.

In the video below, Cohan describes Dead City as a new kind of danger and describes the city as ominous. Morgan states that changing the scenery from the woods to the city has been fun. He adds that Dead City is a wholly different show. Ivanek talks of New York City’s powerful energy, and Charles asks, what do you do when you take The Walking Dead to a city filled with millions of people?

The Walking Dead: Dead City

Dead City has six episodes in its first season, which will premiere on AMC in June 2023. With the time jump of a couple of years, Hershel, who Kein Michael Spiller played in seasons 10 and 11 of The Walking Dead, has been recast by a yet-to-be-announced actor.

The only familiar characters announced are Maggie, Negan, and Hershel, so viewers will have to wait and see if any other familiar faces tag along with Maggie and Negan.

One big question will be…where are Negan’s wife Annie and their child? Hopefully, if they aren’t seen, some back story is given to their whereabouts.
