How many seasons of Fear the Walking Dead?
By Renee Hansen
Fear the Walking Dead is the first spinoff of the long-running series, The Walking Dead. While Walking Dead recently wrapped up its storyline in November 2022, Fear the Walking Dead will release a new season in 2023.
Season one of Fear the Walking Dead premiered on August 23, 2015. This series was to be a companion of The Walking Dead and started before the TWD timeline. Fans were first introduced to the Clark family, whom only Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Madison (Kim Dickens) survive. Next, viewers meet the Salazar family, with only one remaining member, Daniel. Another character who has survived since the beginning is Victor Strand (Colman Domingo).
This series has seen several cross-cover characters from The Walking Dead, Morgan Jones (Lennie James), Dwight (Austin Amelio), and Sherry (Christine Evangelista). This has made for exciting storylines that intertwine.
Fear the Walking Dead season 8
Fear the Walking Dead recently aired its seventh season, which concluded in June 2022, and the series was renewed for an eighth. In 2021 was announced that filming would move from Austin, Texas, to Savannah, Georgia, and this is where season 8 began filming in late summer 2022.
In January 2023, AMC announced that the premiere date of part one of season 8 of Fear TWD would be May 14, 2023, and that this would be the series’ final season. The news was a shock to fans. Another interesting announcement is that the story will experience a seven-year time jump sometime during the twelve-episode final season.
Showrunners Ian Goldberg & Andrew Chambliss have retained their possessions on the series, and fans are worried that the eighth season will only show more of what was seen in season 7, which was met with a tepid response.
Goldberg & Chambliss have promised a reinvention of the series that saw the return of Madison Clark in season 7. This fan-favorite character was thought to have died in season 4, but fans knew she would return as a body was never found. This exciting news was countered with the devastating news that Debnam-Carey would leave the series.
The upcoming season will see a heavy focus on the mysterious PADRE organization. Season 7 left with Madison and Morgan on board a PADRE boat trying to recover the loss of Morgan’s daughter Mo.
The new teaser for season 8 has revealed the first look at PADRE and shows that fans can expect some excitement this season.
Several cast members are expected to return in season 8 in addition to James and Dickens, including Colman Domingo, Austin Amelio, Rubén Blades, Mo Collins, Karen David, Jenna Elfman, Christine Evangelista, Danay Garcia, Demetrius Grosse, Peter Jacobson, Alexa Nisenson and Daryl Mitchell.
