Walking Dead season 11 mysteries Rick & Michonne series must answer
By Renee Hansen
In season 11 of The Walking Dead, Lance Hornsby, brilliantly played by actor Josh Hamilton was introduced. Hornsby was the Deputy Governor of the all too perfect-looking community of the Commonwealth. The story would reveal that Hornsby had powerful allies, but who or what organization his alliances were with remained a mystery.
Hornsby would accompany Eugene (Josh McDermitt) to Alexandria under the guise of offering resources needed to rebuild after the Whisperer war all but destroyed it. That and food and shelter for those residents who wanted it. Many of our survivors chose to relocate to the Commonwealth until Alexandria was ready, while others remained to work on the repairs.
Soon Hornsby’s true color would be revealed, and he would take over not only Alexandria but Hilltop and Oceanside in the name of the Commonwealth. During season 11, Lance would mention “certain alliances,” and the Commonwealth train line had a mysterious “Designation 2” destination that was never explained.
Can the Rick & Michonne spinoff bring light to these Walking Dead mysteries?
Many viewers believe that the only organization big enough and with more resources than the Commonwealth to make it worth Hornsby’s time to consider an alliance is the CR (Civic Republic).
This is the same organization whose military unit, CRM, has Rick Grimes. Could a connection with the Commonwealth be made in the Rick & Michonne spinoff?
Now, that’s not to say there will be a huge reunion between Rick, Michonne, and all of their friends and family, but there could be some connection, even a representative of the Commonwealth who would appear at the CR. Just because Hornsby was crooked doesn’t mean the alliance was something bad.
Designation 2 was a drop-off stop they were going to take Connie (Lauren Ridloff) to. She is very intelligent and is excellent a figuring things out. Perhaps this is some type of intelligence hub for CR. Or, this is another mystery that will be left unanswered, but it would be an interesting way to tie the Commonwealth to the CR.
