The Walking Dead: Dead City sets release date and new photos
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead: Dead City will be the newest spinoff of The Walking Dead to air on AMC in 2023. The spinoff will continue the stories of Maggie Rhee and Negan Smith, made famous in the flagship series. Dead City will see the duo team up as they head to Manhattan on a mission to save Maggie’s son Hershel who has been abducted.
It was recently announced that Maggie’s son Hershel, portrayed by Kien Michael Spiller on TWD in seasons 10 and 11, will be replaced by Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor Logan Kim. This is due to the fact that Dead City is set several years after the events of The Walking Dead’s final episode, and an older actor was required to portray this character.
The Walking Dead: Dead City release date
The release date for Dead City has been set for June 18, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET on AMC immediately following Fear the Walking Dead’s mid-season 8 finale. Lauren Cohan will reprise her role as Maggie, a character Cohan has played since season 2 of The Walking Dead. Jeffrey Dean Morgan will again play Negan, who he has played since season 7.
