The Walking Dead: Dead City Negan is a wanted man
By Renee Hansen
AMC will premiere the fourth spinoff of The Walking Dead in June. The Walking Dead: Dead City will be an entirely new look at the apocalypse from the wooded setting of the flagship series. Dead City is set in apocalyptic Manhattan, a location that had been cut off from the mainland shortly after the onset of the outbreak. During that time, a horde of walkers one million strong amassed.
Dead City will continue the stories of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The pair will join forces in an attempt to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim), who has been abducted by a new villain, The Croat ( Željko Ivanek).
This series will be set a few years after the events of The Walking Dead’s final episode, and during that time, Negan has made some new enemies.
The Walking Dead: Dead City – Negan
The teaser for season 1 of Dead City shows a new character, Marshall Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles), holding a wanted poster featuring an image of Negan. This means that at some point, Negan has, yet again, gotten on someone’s bad side.
At the end of The Walking Dead series, Negan had a heart-to-heart conversation with Maggie that prompted him to set off, presumably with his new wife Annie (Medina Senghore), who was pregnant with their child. During the one-year time jump of the final episode, nothing was mentioned of Negan, Annie, and the child they would have had by then. (other than him returning Judith’s (Cailey Fleming) compass). Hopefully, Dead City will address Negan’s wife and child and what became of them, or perhaps they will be in the series.
In Dead City, Marshall Perlie Armstrong is tasked with keeping justice in his community of New Babylon. Actor Gaius Charles stated at WonderCon 2023 that one of Armstrong’s primary missions is to capture a man named Negan. He said that complications come about during this process. It will be exciting to see how Negan becomes wanted in New Babylon, a location in which little has been revealed so far.
The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on June 18, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET.
