The Walking Dead Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Dania Gurira) spinoff series is creating quite a buzz within the fandom. Most viewers long to see the reunion between the zpoc power couple and find out how they locate one another. Although the series isn’t scheduled to release until 2024, little bits of information have slowly been released by fans who have stalked filming sites, if not by AMC. Recently, Lucifer actress Lesley-Ann Brandt has been cast as a character named Pearl Thorne, teased fans about the final episode in a cryptic social media post.

Little is known about Brandt’s character other than her name, Pearl Thorne, and the fact that she is a ” VERY South African character.”  She is the first casting announcement for the series, so naturally, there is much excitement about the information.

Brandt’s social media post states, “Just read the final episode,” with some accompanying emojis hinting that things are quite shocking at the end of the season.

The series is filming under the working title The Walking Dead: Summit and will be an “epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world, kept apart by distance, by an unstoppable power, by the ghosts of who they were.”

Another bit of exciting information about the series is that Pollyanna McIntosh will reprise her role as Jadis. When she was last seen in The Walking Dead: World Beyond, she confirmed that she used Rick and her ticket into the CRM (Civic Republic Military) and climbed their ranks to become Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes. What part she will play in the spinoff is unclear, but it will be interesting to find out.

The series will consist of six episodes with TWDU Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple as showrunner, who is executive producing with Lincoln, Gurira,  Brian Bockrath, and TWD veteran Denise Huth. The spinoff is scheduled for release in 2024.
