Is Rick returning to The Walking Dead?

In November 2022, AMC aired the series finale of The Walking Dead. The eleventh season brought the main series storyline to a close, but many more stories are yet to be told in the form of spinoffs. One question that keeps popping up is, will Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) return to The Walking Dead universe?
Rick Grimes was the leader of the main group of survivors in The Walking Dead from the series’s pilot episode until his apparent demise in season 9. He heroically blew up a bridge to save his family as they watched in horror. But unbeknownst to them, he was blown clear and found on the river’s edge by Jadis/Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh). She rescued him, aided by the Civic Republic, and taken away in a helicopter.
His family mourned his loss greatly, and things suffered after his departure. But his wife Michonne (Danai Gurira) discovered that he didn’t die and went in search of him. She shared this information with his daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming), who initially didn’t share this information with anyone. The only other person within the communities that was aware of this was Virgil (Kevin Carroll). But by the end of the series, Judith would reveal that her father survived and her mother was actively searching for him.

Will Rick Grime return to The Walking Dead universe?
The final episode of The Walking Dead, “Rest in Peace,” surprised fans with a coda scene featuring Rick and Michonne in a touching scene highlighting some of what has occurred since they were last seen. Rick had been held captive by the CRM (Civic Military Republic) but never gave up hope of returning to his family. And Michonne has never given up her quest to reunite with her true love.
In 2024 the epic love story of Rick and Michonne will continue in a spinoff series, Summit (working title), that will feature the duo’s reunion. AMC originally announced a trilogy of movies that would bring Rick Grimes back into the fold, but that project has been scraped and replaced with the series. Fans are excited to see what has happened since Rick and Michonne left The Walking Dead in seasons 9 and 10, respectively, and to see their long-awaited reunion.
