By Renee Hansen
Fear the Walking Dead will premiere its eighth and final season on AMC on Sunday, May 14, at 9 p.m. ET. Viewers who subscribe to AMC+ can watch this episode on May 11. The last season will be released in two parts, each consisting of six episodes. Part two will premiere before the end of 2023. AMC has released new images for the final season featuring several familiar faces along with some brand-new ones.
The official trailer for the final season of Fear the Walking Dead gave viewers the first glimpse of PADRE. This subject was shrouded in mystery throughout season 7. It was thought to be a location set up by the US government with plans and resources to rebuild the country after a catastrophe. That may have been the original intent, but now it serves as a training facility for kidnapped children.
Another significant event in season 7 was the return of Madison, who Kim Dickens plays. Madison was thought to have died in the fall of Dell Diamond in season 4. She was discovered by Morgan (Lennie James) and was employed by PADRE as one of their “collectors” of children.

Season 8 will see Morgan return to King County, Georgia, a long way from Texas, where they previously lived. The scenes featured in the trailer show the “Clear” apartment and the house he lived in with his son and wife. It will be interesting to see why he returns to Georgia.
The final season will also see a time jump of seven years. This will see an aged-up Mo (Zoey Merchant) and Dwight (Austin Amelio), and Sherry’s (Christine Evangelista) child will be about six years old.
Another topic that fans are curious about is the mental state of Daniel (Rubén Blades). He had some significant issues in season 7 that were quite concerning. Daniel has been on the series since the beginning, so fans are anxious about how his story will conclude.
Several new characters will be added to the cast this season as a whole new community is introduced.
Maya Eshet as Shrike and Jayla Walton as Dove are featured in the new images released by AMC.
