Karen David & Pallavi Sastry in Land of Gold now streaming on HBO Max

Walking Dead universe actresses Karen David and Pallavi Sastry star in a new film that is now streaming on HBO Max. David is known for her role as Grace on Fear the Walking Dead, currently airing its final season. Sastry is new to TWDU and will star in the upcoming spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City that premieres on AMC on June 18. Both star in the film Land of Gold on HBO Max.

Land of Gold is directed and written by Nardeep Khurmi and produced by Keertana Sastry, Pallavi Sastry, and Simon Sohel TaufiQue and marks Khurmi’s feature directorial debut. Variety reports that the script for the film won best drama at the 2021 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards and was nominated for best local feature at the 2022 Philadelphia Film Festival & best feature at the 2022 Denver International Film Festival. Khurmi pitched Land of Gold at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival, where he was awarded the AT&T Presents: Untold Stories prize. An alliance between Tribeca and AT&T awards a deserving filmmaker $1 million to produce their film with mentorship and distribution pathways.

The story follows a first-generation Punjabi truck driver who takes a last-minute job with his expectant wife due to give birth. He soon discovers a Mexican-American girl hiding away in his trailer.

Khurmi & Pallavi Sastry also star in the film with David, Caroline Valencia, Iqbal Theba, and Riti Sachdeva.

Land of Gold saw a limited theatrical release and was released on HBO Max on May 15.

Karen David upcoming roles

David has completed her time as Grace on Fear the Walking Dead as filming for the series wrapped in March 2023. Fans will get to enjoy the final stories during AMC’s airing of season 8, which will conclude by the end of 2023. She recently starred in an episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime and a movie, When Christmas Was Young. 

Next, she will star in Isabel’s Garden, a movie about a woman whose life is drastically altered after an accident kills a loved one.

Pallavi Sastry joins The Walking Dead universe

According to Variety, Sastry will join The Walking Dead: Dead City series. This series will premiere on AMC on June 18.
