The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live spinoff cast & characters
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is the Rick and Michonne spinoff series that will continue the epic love story of the two characters initially featured in The Walking Dead. Played by Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, the characters are fan favorites, and viewers have longed to see more of their stories since they departed the main series in seasons 9 and 10, respectively. The spinoff is set for release in 2024; who will star in the series?
It was announced in 2022 that Lincoln and Gurira would reprise their roles in a spinoff series. They were even featured in a coda scene during the series finale episode of The Walking Dead. The upcoming series will see the actors joined by a fantastic cast of talent to tell more of their stories, and perhaps some familiar faces from TWDU will also appear in the series.
The Ones Who Live is slated to be a six-episode series that will premiere in 2024. The series wrapped filming in May 2023.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live – Rick and Michonne spinoff cast
Andrew Lincoln – Rick Grimes – Rick is the main character from The Walking Dead series and comic introduced in the pilot episode that aired in 2010. He led a group of survivors from Georgia who made their way to Virginia. Although his family thought he died in a bridge explosion, viewers were privy to the fact that he survived and was taken by a CRM (Civic Republic Military) helicopter. The spinoff series will continue his story.
Danai Gurira – Michonne Grimes (née Hawthorne) – Michonne is also introduced in The Walking Dead and featured in the comic story. She entered the account during the final scene of season 2 and became a vital part of the group of survivors. After losing her true love, Rick, she pressed on, raising their two children, Judith and RJ. When she discovered he had survived, she set out in search of him. Now viewers will learn what it took for her to find him and finally see their long-awaited reunion.
Pollyanna McIntosh – Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes – Jadis, aka Anne, is a character from the main series which led a group known as the Scavengers who had long been working with the CRM, trading people for supplies. When she found herself in a tight spot, she traded Rick as her entrance into the organization. She would reappear in the spinoff The Walking Dead: World Beyond as Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes, interestingly taking Father Gabriel’s (Seth Gilliam) last name. She is a loyal servant of the CRM, and it will be interesting to see her story in the new spinoff.
Lesley-Ann Brandt- Pearl Thorne – Pearl is a new character to TWDU, and little is known about this character. When Brandt announced her involvement, she stated that Pearl is a ” VERY South African character.” She has been seen on set often, so she likely has a vital role in the new story.
Terry O’Quinn – Major General Beale – AMC has not confirmed his involvement, but rumors have circulated that O’Quinn has been cast as the major general of the CRM. Beale has yet to be seen but was mentioned and heard talking to Jadis in World Beyond. He holds a lot of authority and is responsible for the deaths of over 100,000 in the ordered destruction of several large communities.
Other actors who have announced their involvement on social media include Scott McPherson, Frankie Quinones, and Jose Rodriguez.
We will continue to update, and casting news will be released.
