Fear the Walking Dead season 8 slowly reveals what has transpired with the survivors who fled Texas in season 7. In a surprising twist, Morgan (Lennie James) became a collector for PADRE while Grace (Karen David) worked on the radio towers. Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista) also work for the organization. They do this to be near their children, that they, for some unknown reason, have relinquished care to PADRE. June (Jenna Elfman) appeared to be the only one who has revolted until the trailer for episode 3, “Odessa,” revealed another familiar face, who could be the commander of the resistance.

Daniel Salazar’s (Ruben Blade) voice was heard on a walkie in episode 2, “Blue Jay,” as he communicated with a man, Adrian (Jonathan Medina), who tells June of a group that is against PADRE. Adrian followed June to her cabin hideaway to discover if she knew about his daughter, who PADRE took. He tells June that many like-minded people would assist her in her mission to take down PADRE, and they are forming an army.

In the trailer for episode 3, “Odessa,” a new character, Diane (Jennifer Christa Palmer), tells her audience, “We’ll let the commander decide,” as the camera pans to Daniel.

In season 7, Daniel experienced significant mental health issues compounded with memory loss. Luciana (Danay Garcia) did her best to help him retain and strengthen his memory with cognitive exercises. Seven years have passed, has Daniel overcome his issues and now stepped back into a place of military leadership?

Fear the Walking Dead – Daniel Salazar

In a former life, Daniel was a secret agent of the Salvadoran Junta and CIA, a highly skilled killer. He is a perfect candidate for apocalyptic survival with his years of training in combat and interrogation technics, which includes torture. If he has regained control of his faculties and is forming an army, PADRE must prepare for the worst.

It will be exciting to learn more about what Daniel has experienced in the past seven years and his plans for PADRE.
