Fear the Walking Dead season 8 episode 3 Odessa MVP
By Renee Hansen
Fear the Walking Dead has begun to redeem itself after the less-than-favorable seventh season. The eighth and final season of the series is slowly pulling back the veil of PADRE and the true underbelly of the organization. The third episode, “Odessa,” featured a familiar face and some outstanding backstory on how PADRE came to be.
This article contains spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead season 8, episode 3, “Odessa.”
This episode was a deeper look into the backstory of PADRE and how it became the twisted version of abducting and training children for combat. This episode featured the reunion of Madison (Kim Dickens) and June (Jenna Elfman), and Daniel (Ruben Blades) was also reintroduced to the storyline.
Undead Walking picks one character from the episode each week to honor them with the MVP title.
THE MVP OF ODESSA – DANIEL
Fear the Walking Dead – Daniel
In season 7, Daniel was experiencing some significant memory loss and mental health issues. With Daniel, it’s never known if these things are tactics because of his Salvadoran Junta and CIA training or if age has caught up with him. By the season 7 finale, he did appear to rally some.
When the story catches up to Daniel again, seven years have passed, and he has found ways to help his memory and appears to have regained control of his faculties. Not only that, but he is also leading an army of parents who are desperately seeking the children abducted from them by PADRE.
Daniel is reunited with Madison and June, and, interestingly, he doesn’t seem that pretty shocked that Madison survived the fall of the Dell Diamond. He is ready to take on PADRE and with Madison’s help, they might just be able to.
He gets the MVP for helping the parents to have the will to fight for their children. Since PADRE thought he was too old to be of use, he will show them he can take care of himself. It will be interesting to see where the story goes next now that it has been revealed who Padre is, and the main survivors are slowly coming back together.
