Fear the Walking Dead Ruben Blades ‘You’re going to see everyone back’
By Renee Hansen
The third episode of Fear the Walking Dead season 8, “Odessa,” saw more reunions between the characters who have been separated for one reason or another. These separations happened after PADRE broke up the group of survivors when the location of their rafts was revealed by Morgan (Lennie James). One reunion fans were eager to see was that of two characters who initially met in season 1.

Daniel (Ruben Blades) made his return in this episode and saw him reunite with June (Jenna Elfman) and his old friend Madison (Kim Dickens). Daniel doesn’t seem shocked that Madison survived the fall of the Dell Diamond as he knows her well and knows she is a fighter.
In an interview withComicbook.com, Blades shared his hopes for Daniel in the final season:
"He can imagine it is possible to actually find meaning, to sustain the meaning [of] being in charge of the army of the parents looking for their children to give him the sense of purpose."
Fear the Walking Dead – Daniel Salazar
Daniel is a Salvadorian Civil War veteran and former CIA operative who is good at doing jobs no one else wants. He has excellent leadership qualities, among other valuable talents. In season 8, he leads a group of parents searching for children stolen from them by PADRE. He is training them, and the group is growing as more parents are added to their ranks. He tells Madison that even though he lost his family, he will fight with these parents to get theirs back.
In season 7, Daniel suffered some memory loss and other mental health issues but has been able to curb those issues with the help of yerba mate tea. He now has a purpose and will likely end his story on the series in a blaze of glory as they fight against PADRE to secure the release of all of the children.
During the interview with Comicbook.com, Blades teases fans:
"It’s going to be very rewarding to see everyone back. You’re going to see everyone back. And I think that in itself is going to be the most comforting aspect of it."
