The final season of Fear the Walking Dead is shaping up nicely after the less-than-stellar season 7. This week’s episode gave some backstory to PADRE and featured reunions between some familiar faces. When does episode 4, “King County,” release?
This article contains spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead season 8, episode 3, “Odessa.”
This week Daniel (Ruben Blades) appears as the leader of a group of parents searching for the children stolen from them by PADRE. He has been training them to come up against an enemy they know little about.
He is reunited with June (Jenna Elfman) and his long-time friend Madison (Kim Dickens). Knowing Madison as he does, Daniel isn’t shocked that she survived the fall of Dell Diamond.
This episode also gave some back story on PADRE, which the US Government initially set up with supplies and military personnel to rebuild after a catastrophe. The episode features a flashback to 12 years ago when U.S. Army General Krennick (Michael B. Silver) was in charge of PADRE, and his children Samantha (Maya Eshet) and Benjamin (Daniel Rashid) witnessed his death by walkers. After this, the siblings, renamed Shrike and Crane, twist the purpose of PADRE to become the child abduction ring that Madison becomes involved in. Their reasoning for this is so that these children never experience “the worst pain of all: the pain of losing a parent.”
