TWDU actors Omid Abtahi and Nico Tortorella new series City on Fire

Fans of The Walking Dead universe love to see actors from the series featured in new projects. Deadline has reported a new Apple TV drama, City on Fire, that will star two of our TWD Family members.Omid Abtahi played Howard in Fear the Walking Dead, and Nico Tortorella played Felix in the limited series The Walking Dead World Beyond. 

City on Fire is inspired by Garth Risk Hallberg’s debut novel of the same name. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, well-known for their work developing the CW’s Gossip Girl, wrote all eight episodes and served as showrunners. They will executive produce with Lis Rowinski and Jesse Peretz and direct four episodes.

The story is set on the Fourth of July 2003, when an NYU student is shot in Central Park. Samantha is alone; there are no witnesses and little physical evidence. She leaves the club where her favorite band is playing, promising to return but never does. She is investigated and discovered to be the link between mysterious fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy family’s secrets.

City on Fire release date

City on Fire will release the first three episodes on Apple TV+ on May 12, 2023. The remaining five episodes will release weekly on Friday.

Abtahi plays Detective Ali Parsa, a workaholic detective assigned to the case.

Tortorella plays William, a brilliant but self-destructive artist living in Manhattan.

The series will also star Jemima Kirke, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner, Alexandra Doke, Kathleen Munroe, John Cameron Mitchell, Chase Sui Wonders, and Wyatt Oleff.

What else does Omid Abtahi star in?

Abtahi portrayed Howard, Victor Strand’s (Colman Domingo’s) right-hand man at the Tower on Fear the Walking Dead. Strand killed him in season 7.

He also starred in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, Brothers, My Own Worst Enemy and is well known for his role as Dr. Pershing in The Mandalorian. He will reprise his role for season 3 of The Mandalorian, which returns to Disney+ on March 1, 2023.

What else does Nico Tortorella star in?

Tortorella portrayed Felix Carlucci in The Walking Dead: World Beyond. This limited series had two seasons that ended in December 2021.

He is well known for his role as Josh in Younger and Scream 4, Odd Thomas, and Trespass. Next, he will star as a  lead in The Mattachine Family.
