The media buzz around the premiere of the latest Walking Dead spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City, is astounding. The early reviews are in, with the majority stating that this is the best spinoff of the franchise. The series stars have been on a promotional tour conducting interviews and the premiere at Tribeca, followed by a Q&A session. AMC held a massive NYC takeover where they partnered with many NYC establishments and offered merchandise giveaways, Dead City-themed treats, and of course, walkers.
Dead City is the first spinoff to feature characters from the flagship series that will continue the stories of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The longtime enemies will partner against a new villain, The Croat (Željko Ivanek), who has kidnapped Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim). She has tracked him to Manhattan and discovered that he is one of Negan’s former underlings.
Another newcomer, Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles), is a marshal from New Babylon, a federation of city/states, who is tracking Negan for crimes he has committed.
