What is the new Walking Dead show?
By Renee Hansen
The newest show in The Walking Dead universe continues the stories of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and is set in an apocalyptic Manhattan. The series is titled The Walking Dead: Dead City, which airs on AMC on Sundays.
Dead City teams up long-time enemies, Maggie and Negan, who set off on a journey to NYC to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim). This series has done a fantastic job of creating a believable story of why Maggie needs Negan’s help without making things seemed forced.
The man who has kidnapped Hershel is a former Savior of Negan’s who goes by the name, The Croat (Željko Ivanek). Maggie believes Negan will know enough about this man to assist her in rescuing her son.
Sometime during his absence Negan took over the care of a young girl, Ginny (Mahina Napoleon), who has been traumatized by the death of her father. She doesn’t speak and has been left in the care of Nina (Pallavi Sastry) and the others at The Bricks.
Negan is also wanted by a marshal named Perlie Armstrong (Gauis Charles), who claims Negan has killed several men, in cold blood, who are members of his community of New Babylon. Negan says there is more to the story, and that will surely be revealed as the series continues.
The Walking Dead – Dead City season 1
This series follows a few groups of people The Croat and his Burazi, who live in Manhattan and terrorize the Tribespeople, the native New Yorkers. But his arm reaches far as he has also raided Maggie and her group who have relocated from Hilltop to a new location, The Bricks.
New Babylon is also another group, which is made up of several survivor cities and states who have a strict rule of law and order. If they rules aren’t followed they are enforced by marshals who inflict awful forms of punishment.
The Walking Dead: Dead City will air new episodes weekly on AMC on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET. AMC+ subscribers can watch new episodes three days early on Thursdays. The season finale will air on July 23. AMC hasn’t announce it but rumor has it the series is set to continue with a second season.
