The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Greg Nicotero – not more of the same
By Renee Hansen
AMC is cranking out promotions for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. This will be the fifth spinoff of TWDU and feature Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, a role he has played since 2010. Set in France, this spinoff gives the creators a rare opportunity to show how other areas of the world have faired in the post-apocalyptic world. In an interview with EW, director and executive producer Greg Nicotero gives fans some great news about the upcoming series.
A few teasers and one extended scene have been released to give viewers a peek at what can be expected from the Daryl Dixon series. The landscape drastically differs from the wooded setting of Georgia and Virginia in The Walking Dead. According to Nicotero, “This is probably the closest to a standalone show you will ever get.”
He says this series isn’t to see Daryl off in exotic places but to explore a new world.
Reedus has explained this series as more of a reboot than a continuation of Daryl’s story. This prospect is exciting, as fans want to see something new and fresh. Which Nicotero goes on to explain this series will be just that.
"This is definitely not more of the same. Our show introduces new characters, new themes, and is an exciting extension of the genre that will delight people who love this kind of storytelling and crave more. And our goal is to satisfy those people who want to go on the adventure. Hop on, it’s gonna be a ride!"
When does The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon release?
AMC will release The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on Sept. 10, 2023 at 9 p.m. ET.
Nicotero also stated that the popularity of series like “The Last of Us” and “Station Eleven” are encouraging and proves that there are still “moving survival stories to be told.”
