AMC has announced that the next spinoff to release in The Walking Dead universe will be The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. This series will be the fifth spinoff of the main series and features Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) as he finds himself in France trying to return home.

There have been several teasers for the Daryl Dixon spinoff, and a full-length trailer was expected to be revealed at SDCC on July 21. The latest video clip features Daryl on a boat in Paris, showing a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in ruins.

You can view all of the teasers for Daryl Dixon on YouTube, which slowly piece together Daryl’s arrival in France. The first teaser saw Daryl tied to an upturned lifeboat in the middle of the ocean, and others have featured Daryl in different areas of France, including an Abbey with some creepy-looking nuns.

In the Daryl Dixon series, viewers will learn that Daryl went in search of something and found trouble. This trouble finds him on the shores of France with no memory of how or why he is there. It has long been speculated that the only organization large enough and with the means to send Daryl to France is the CR (Civic Republic).

When Daryl was last seen in the series finale of The Walking Dead, he was heading out to look for Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Could it be he was looking for Rick and Michonne, and the trouble he comes upon is the CR?

The Civic Republic is the organization under which the CRM (Civic Republic Military) falls; this is who Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) traded Rick. As seen in the after-credits scene of The Walking Dead finale, Rick escaped but was recaptured by this group. This means Rick is an asset to the CR as their military doesn’t often recapture but instead kills those who oppose them. If Daryl was trying to rescue Rick, it would make sense that they would want to get rid of him.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premieres on AMC and AMC+ on Sept. 10, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET. This series consists of six episodes for its first season.
