Actress Sarah Wayne Callies is well known for her role as Lori Grimes on The Walking Dead. Since she departed from the series in season 3, Callies has been involved in several other projects, including The Company You Keep and her scripted podcast. The series is called Aftershock, and the second season will release in August.

Aftershock is a scripted audio drama that Callies poured her heart and soul into. In the first season of this fast-paced thriller, a massive earthquake ravages the west coast, and in the aftermath, a mysterious island rises from the Pacific. The quake has killed hundreds of thousands of people, with many unaccounted for.

Callies enlisted several friends for the series, including three fellow Walking Dead actors,  Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Austin Amelio (Dwight), and Tovah Feldshuh (Deanna Monroe).  They are joined by Stranger Things’ David Harbour, Tati Gabrielle, Janel Parrish, Russell Hornsby, Rockmond Dunbar, Bethany Joy Lenz, Michael O’Neill,  and EJ Bonilla.

Season 1 consists of nine episodes, and there is still time to listen ahead of the upcoming season’s release. Listen here.

On August 2, 2023, the second season will premiere where ever you listen to podcasts.

Below is the announcement for the second season.

Callies took to social media to promote season 2 of Aftershock, stating, “We’re promoting the season with permission from SAG/AFTRA and stand in solidarity with the strike.”

Aftershock – Sarah Wayne Callies

Season 1 was recorded during the pandemic and marked the first project Callies has written, directed, produced, and starred in. She has shared her appreciation for all her friend’s support in this project, who put their heart and soul into the project for basically no money.

Raised in Hawaii, Callies thought of a story where a new island appeared out of nowhere. Who would go there, and what would motivate them to do so? Callies has stated, ” At its heart, it’s a story about forgiveness and second chances.”
