Fear the Walking Dead – Watch the return of Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman)
By Renee Hansen
AMC has released a Fear the Walking Dead video featuring the return of Troy Otto, portrayed by Daniel Sharman. Troy was assumed dead in season 3 after being beaten in the head with a hammer by Madison Clark (Kim Dickens). He was last seen unconscious in the flood waters of the Gonzalez Dam. Troy will return for the final segment of episodes of the series.
It seems odd that AMC would release this scene, but it is available on AMC.com. Some have published this video as “leaked” footage when it, in fact, has been released by the network. It does spoil Troy’s return to the series, so don’t watch it or read this article if you want to avoid this pivotal scene before the premiere.
Here is an image of Troy & Madison from season 3 as a buffer.

Now, on to the video. The clip features Victor Strand (Colman Domingo), who goes by the name Anton now, and has a young man calling him dad (what?) along with Madison, tied to chairs as they are interrogated by an unknown man. They are in an elaborate room full of other people sitting on the floor with their hands bound as the man continues to try and pry information from Stand about a girl. The man indicates he isn’t in charge; when Madison asks who is, Troy enters the room.
He drops the bag, seen in the season 8 midseason finale in which someone was loading familiar items, including Alicia’s (Alycia Debnam-Carey) prosthetic hand, as they listen to Madison’s radio announcement giving coordinates to PADRE. He tells Madison he knew he would find her but was surprised to see her in the company of the same people from Mexico, eyeballing Strand.
A man tries to vouch for Strand, stating he isn’t who Troy thinks he is. But Troy knows who Strand and Madison are. He reveals his eye, damaged from Madison’s blows to his head, taking off what looks like Strand’s aviator sunglasses. He proceeds to tell the group, who have given Madison shelter, who she is.
The scene cuts to season 3 with Madison bashing him on the head, and scene.
It is an exciting clip, but it seems strange that AMC would release this and not save it for the episode.
Fear the Walking Dead season 8, part 2, returns to AMC on October 22 at 9 p.m. ET. Things will likely move quickly, with only six episodes remaining in the series.
