AMC is gearing up for the upcoming release of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. This is a direct spinoff of The Walking Dead featuring the continued story of fan-favorite Daryl Dixon, portrayed by Norman Reedus since season 1. This series follows Daryl to France, where he embarks on a brand-new journey.

The eagle eyes at Comicbook.com noticed a quick glimpse of something interesting in the “Believe in Him” teaser trailer of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (below), which spawned an interesting theory. If you don’t blink at :22, you will see Daryl in a clip that has to be a flashback. This is indicated by the presence of his bike, which he would have been unable to take with him on his lifeboat to France.

The theory is that fans will see a flashback in which Daryl second-guesses his decision to leave the Commonwealth and the communities where his found family resides. While only a theory, the clip shows him looking back, and this wasn’t an easy decision for Daryl to make, so it will be interesting to see what happens in this scene.

The last viewers saw Daryl, he says his tearful goodbyes and promises Judith (Cailey Fleming) that if he hears anything, he will find and bring her parents, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), back to her and RJ (Antony Azur).

His search for Rick and Michonne is likely part of the “bad decisions” he mentions in the teaser below, which found him in France. The CRM (Civic Republic Military) is the only known organization with the resources to usher someone off to France. If Daryl’s search for Rick and Michonne leads him to the CRM, where Rick has been all these years, this could be where those bad decisions are made, and someone wants to be rid of him.

The Walking Dead: Dary Dixon will premiere on AMC on September 10 at 9 p.m. ET. AMC+ will air new episodes three days early.
