The Walking Dead universe has been greatly expanded by the spinoff series. With these expansions, the cast has grown to include many great actors. Tyler James Williams starred in the main series as Noah in season 5, who is remembered for his gentle nature and horrific death scene. In 2022, the third spinoff, Tales of the Walking Dead, would introduce actor Terry Crews into the TWDU. These two actors once starred as co-stars in Everybody Hates Chris.

TIME magazine has announced Williams as one of its honorees for the TIME 100 Next, recognizing rising leaders in several fields, including health, climate, business, sports, the arts, and more.

Crews and Williams starred in the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris as the father-son duo of Chris and Julius. The series is inspired by the teenage life of actor-comedian Chris Rock, which aired for four seasons on The CW (with the first on UPN, which merged with The WB into The CW).

Each TIME 100 Next honoree is recognized with a tribute essay, and Crews penned the one for Williams.

He talked of being nervous about his first TV role and remembers being told that “the biggest obstacles on set were kids and animals.” Williams was 13 when they first met, and Crews knew whoever was playing “the great Chris Rock would need to be a superstar.”

Crews was impressed with Williams’s performance during their first scene, and afterward, the star would break into a “big beautiful smile.”

"That Tyler has grown into a brilliant talent is no surprise. I ran into him last year and told him how proud and thankful I am to have worked with someone who, at such a young age, carried the show. He gave me that smile. There’s nothing harder than going from child star to adult star, but Tyler has always been comfortable with himself, and it’s why he’ll continue to shine.– Terry Crews"

Williams currently plays elementary school teacher Mr. Gregory Eddie on Abbott Elementary, a mockumentary sitcom created by Quinta Brunson, who also stars. The series has received critical acclaim and strong viewership on Hulu.

The series has been renewed for a third season and holds a 99% average ranking on Rotten Tomatoes. Abbott Elementary has been nominated for many awards, winning several, including Golden Globes and Primetime Emmys.

Congratulations to Tyler James Williams on becoming a TIME 100 Next honoree.
