Garret Dillahunt in Prime Video film A Million Miles Away with Michael Peña

Amazon Prime Video’s new movie A Million Miles Away was released on September 15, starring Fear the Walking Dead actor Garret Dillahunt and Michael Peña as José M. Hernández, the first Mexican-American astronaut.
The film is based on the autobiography Reaching for the Stars, written by Hernández. Directed by Alejandra Marquez Abella, known for Northern Skies Over Empty Space, from a screenplay written by Bettina Gilois and re-written by Hernán Jiménez and Abella. A Million Miles Away was acquired by Amazon in 2022; the film was originally being developed for Netflix.
The story tells Hernández’s inspiring true story of his dream of becoming an astronaut. When he was six years old, he and his family worked the fields between Michoacán and Stockton, California, as he dreamed about traveling among the stars. The support from his family and his own determination, as he was rejected by NASA eleven times before becoming the first migrant farmworker to travel to space.
A Million Miles Away cast
Michael Peña portrays José M. Hernández with Garret Dillahunt as Frederick W. Sturckow, one of the astronauts who joined Hernández on Mission STS 128, in his fourth spaceflight. The mission boarded the International Space Station for 13 days.
Addition cast includes Rosa Salazar, Bobby Soto, Julio César Cedillo, Veronica Falcón, Sarayu Blue and Eric Johnson, as well as Jordan Dean, Ashley Ciarra, Michelle Krusiec, Emma Fassler, Michael Adler, Carlos S. Sanchez and Isaac Arellanes.

Garret Dillahunt next movie – The Dead Don’t Hurt
Next up Dillahunt will star in a western, The Dead Don’t Hurt with fellow Fear TWD actor Ray McKinnon. The movie is written, directed, produced, composed by and starring Viggo Mortensen and premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
The synopsis for the film reads: In the 1860s, French Canadian Vivienne Le Coudy falls in love with Danish immigrant to North America Holger Olsen in San Francisco but they are separated and kept apart by the Civil War.
