The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has significantly expanded the world of TWD to France and it has proved to be a thrilling addition. The series has introduced variant walkers who are extremely fast and strong and spew out acidic bloodlike goo.
Daryl’s arrival in France found him with an immediate need to return home. During his journey, he encounters a group, The Union of Hope, whom he assists with the promise of their help to find a ship to return home.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season finale
AMC will air the season finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on October 15 at 9 p.m. ET. This will conclude the series’s first season and set things up for the second, which has already begun production.
The penultimate episode ended on a cliffhanger, which saw Daryl in Genet’s (Anne Charrier) arena pitted against one of the variants he is expected to fight as the crowd looks on.
It is understandable why Daryl wants to return home, but his determination makes it appear urgent. In the fifth episode, viewers discover why. Before being forced onto the ship to France, he was able to connect with Carol (Melissa McBride) via radio and discovers something is amiss at the Commonwealth. Daryl sensed the distress in her voice before the connection became interminitant, and she shared that someone had returned before the connection was lost. Who could return and cause her distress?
Showrunner David Zabel shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly regarding the addition of this Carol cameo.
"Well, it is important to what her ongoing story may be, and it is important in terms of what we were thinking is going on in Carol’s world at that moment. It’s also not what the audience expects or anticipates if they’re anticipating something. So, it will ultimately prove to be surprising. But that’s all based on the idea that we’re going to play out that story."
Daryl is worried about Carol and the others, but his tender heart has led him to assist the new group, which will delay his return to the United States.
