7. The Pike Victims

The sheer amount of people killed in this scene was staggering. Comic fans knew it was coming, but it was shocking to see WHO was killed during Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) pike victims scene. After being disobeyed, once again, regarding the borders she set, Alpha sets out to enforce the borders with an over-the-top warning.

In season 9, episode 15, “The Calm Before,” Alpha dresses in disguise to attend the fair at the Kingdom. She warns Lydia to remain quiet and confronts her about being a traitor. Lydia tells her that her current way of life is better. They part, both of them emotional about losing the other.

Later, Alpha tells Daryl, who she has captured with others, that she has marked the border and won’t tolerate another breech. She lets the group head back to the Kingdom but they find a bloody and beaten Siddiq (Avi Nash), who leads them to a row of 10 pikes sticking out from the ground, each with a member of the community heads on them.

The victims  Ozzy, Alek, D.J., Frankie, Tammy, Rodney, Addy, Enid, Tara, and Henry. It was a horrific sight. Alpha allowed Siddiq to return home to tell of what transpired. He recounted the bravery of all those killed as they fought for their lives. He tells the crowd they should all be remembered as heroes.
