Melissa McBride accomplishes Walking Dead trifecta in new spinoff
By Renee Hansen
Melissa McBride has been a Walking Dead icon portraying abused wife turned badass Carol Peletier. Introduced in season 1, Carol was a timid woman under the control of her misogynistic husband, Ed (Adam Minarovich). His death freed her to become who she was meant to be.
While it was thought that Carol’s story ended with the main series, AMC has now announced that Carol will join her best friend Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) in the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. She briefly appeared in the finale of the first season of the Daryl Dixon series, where she was seen actively searching for Daryl in the United States.
With this appearance, McBride becomes the first actor in TWDU to star in three of the series. Carol is one of two characters, Daryl being the second to appear in all eleven seasons of The Walking Dead. She also made a quick appearance in Fear the Walking Dead during the season 4 premiere episode, which was Morgan’s (Lennie James) crossover episode. Now, she will reprise her role as Carol in the Daryl Dixon spinoff.
The Walking Dead actors in multiple series along with Melissa McBride
She will soon be joined by two other actors, Andrew Lincoln and Pollyanna McIntosh when they appear in the Rick and Michonne series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, set to premiere in February 2023.
Lincoln has portrayed Rick Grimes since the pilot episode of The Walking Dead and appeared in Fear the Walking Dead in the same episode as McBride. Lincoln will reprise his role as Rick in The Ones Who Live.
McIntosh, who plays Jadis/Anne, appeared in several seasons of The Walking Dead as the leader of the Scavengers, and when this group was wiped out, she joined Rick’s group. She also saved Rick after the bridge explosion but then traded him to the CRM (Civic Republic Military). She reappeared as Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes in The Walking Dead: World Beyond spinoff. Now, Jadis will return in The Ones Who Live.
