Multi-hyphenated Norman Reedus has kept himself extremely busy. In addition to his very active career, he has a family who are very important to him, and he spends as much time with them as possible. He has also been busy with interviews, including his second appearance on Lipps Service with Scott Lipps, a long-time friend.

Reedus and Lipps discuss many topics during the 45+ minute segment (you can listen to the entire podcast below). They touch on their friendship, the early days of The Walking Dead, Keanu Reeves, and so much more.

Reedus talks about how that original group was a tight-knit bunch. They did their best to play their roles as real as possible with all of the weapons and zombies; it would have been very easy for the series to slide into, as Reedus puts it, “corny-ville.”

“Everyone respected each other so much, and they were like, ya know, each other’s cheerleaders on that show.”  They all loved being there as it was such a great show.

They also discussed how no one wanted Reedus to take the part. At that time, no one could have guessed that The Walking Dead would become such an iconic series.

Reedus did clarify that it wasn’t his idea to do the spinoff series in France, as many have assumed. He was completly on board but stated if it was his choice he would have chosen Costa Rica where he owns a home and vactions often.

He also discusses the numerous landmark locations in France that the Daryl Dixon series was filmed in like the Catabombs and Mont Saint-Michel, the castle where The Nest was located. The castle is located in tidal lands so there are times when the tides come in and surround the island. It was an amazing location.

Reedus would go on to discuss the creation of the series. When asked if he would do the series in France he said “F**K, yeah, let’s do that.” But, he had some stipulations, he wanted all new writers and showrunner in order to make a fresh start for this part of Daryl’s story. They hired French writers to give it an authentic feel as he didn’t want it to be a cliche story with Daryl in a beret eating a bagette.

The converstation covers many different topics including how amazing the Daryl Dixon series is and Ride with Norman Reedus. He also mentions the new whiskey he will be releasing and where his bigbaldhead name came from as well as a new photography show in November.
