Who does Nicolas Cantu portray in The Walking Dead universe?

With several spinoffs of the main series, The Walking Dead universe has a vast number of cast members, and it is often difficult to remember which actor belongs to what series. In 2020, AMC would release the second spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, a limited series. Actor Nicolas Cantu served as a main cast member in this series.

Cantu portrayed Elton Ortiz in the coming-of-age series set in the same world as The Walking Dead. Elton, born in Lincoln, Nebraska, is so young that he barely remembers life before the outbreak. At only five years old, Elton lost both his parents and his sister at the onset of the outbreak and would eventually end up at the Campus Colony.

This community was part of the Alliance of the Three, which included Portland, Oregon; Omaha, Nebraska; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Elton joins his friends, who embark on a quest to locate one of their fathers in New York, where he hopes to find purpose in life and see what lies outside the Campus Colony’s walls. By the end of the series, Elton loses his arm after being bitten by an “empty” a member of the undead. He would then go on a mission to Portland to warn them of an impending attack by the CRM.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond

World Beyond was created for a two-season run, which revealed a lot about the CRM (Civic Republic Military), the same organization Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) traded Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincon). The series saw Jadis crossover to its story, and she will also be featured in the Rick and Michonne spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which premieres on AMC and AMC+ in February 2023.
