Fear the Walking Dead final season isn’t the only time charcters have been forgotten
By Renee Hansen
The final season of Fear the Walking Dead concluded on November 19, 2023. The two-part finale ended with the main survivors regrouping after PADRE was destroyed. While saying their goodbyes, everyone began to pair off to start the next journey of their lives.
One significant defectof the last twelve episodes was the fact that several long-time characters were left out of the storyline. A short conversation between Strand (Colman Domingo) and Madison (Kim Dickens) was the only recognition of Sarah (Mo Collins), Wendell (Daryl Mitchell), and Jacob (Peter Jacobson). Showrunners would later back peddle, stating that there just wasn’t time to fit in anything with these characters, but in their imaginations, the characters became “part of Luciana’s crew out there keeping the roads clear between Texas and the East Coast.”
Fear the Walking Dead season 5 forgotten characters
In the fifth season of Fear TWD, Annie (Bailey Gavulic), Dylan (Cooper Dodson), and Max (Ethan Suess) were introduced. The siblings, along with many other apocalyptic orphans, created a small community at Camp Cakleberry. After the plane crash in the season 5 premiere, Annie and her siblings encounter Morgan (Lennie James), Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), and the other survivors.
Their stories would continue throughout season 5, which ended with everyone being split into Virginia’s (Colby Minifie) settlements.
The siblings were to be included in season 6, filmed during the pandemic, which significantly impacted production, and the characters didn’t appear. While this is understandable due to the circumstances and their age, the showrunners never mentioned the children again.
Overall, it may seem trivial to focus on the lack of attention paid to the fates of these characters, but the actors are part of the TWD Family and deserve acknowledgment for their time and efforts to bring life to these roles.
Below, Gavulic and Dodson, who portrayed two of the siblings, seem to have no ill will toward Fear TWD as they used social media to post positive comments regarding their time on the series.
