The Walking Dead universe series and actors nominated for Saturn Awards

The Walking Dead universe has a strong presence among the 2023 Saturn Awards nominees. Either by way of series within the franchise or actors starring in other features. Robert Kirkman’s Renfield received much love by way of nominations.

Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and Lauren Cohan (Maggie Rhee) all received nominations for this year’s awards.

Walking Dead universe actors in Saturn Award nominated projects

Renfield and Guardians of The Galaxy: Vol. 3 both received four nominations. 

Renfield is an original story penned by TWD comic creator Robert Kirkman. The movie also features Walking Dead actors Josh Mikel (Jared on TWD) and Keith Brooks (Claimer Dan on TWD).

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol.3 sees Michael Rooker reprise his role as Yondu.

Steve Coulter, who portrayed Reg Monroe on TWD, has the second-highest number of projects on this list. He stars in Oppenheimer, Insidious: Red Door, and She-Hulk: Attorney-At-Law.  Nick Gomez (Tomas on TWD) also stars in She-Hulk. 

Avatar: The Way of Water has the next highest number of nominees and stars Fear the Walking Dead actor Cliff Curtis (Travis). Michelle Hurd (Dead City), wife of Fear TWD actor Garett Dillahunt (John Dorie  Fear TWD), stars in Star Trek: Picard. 

Walking Dead universe director and SFX guru Greg Nicotero’s Creepshow also earned a nomination. Daniel Roebuck, who starred in a TWDU webisode, The Walking Dead: Cold Storage, played Grandpa Munster in Rob Zombie’s The Munsters.

Dania Gurira, known for her role as Michonne in TWDU, stars in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. 

Avi Nash (Siddiq on TWD) stars in the series Silo, and Bryan McClure (TWD) portrays the Headless Knight in Haunted Mansion. Jamie McShane, who played Lt. Moyers in season 1 of Fear TWD, stars on Wednesday.
