AMC has done a fantastic job delivering new series to The Walking Dead fandom. When the flagship series ended, fans were concerned that the new shows wouldn’t live up to the hype. Luckily, The Walking Dead: Dead City and the Daryl Dixon series both impressed viewers and broke viewership records on AMC+.

Many fans believed The Walking Dead had run its course and it was time to call it quits, while others wanted the series to continue. The Walking Dead universe has several spinoffs that premiered before the main series ended, and AMC announced several more to come.

When it was announced that long-time enemies Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) would be featured in the series together, fans were unsure how this would work. Even Cohan had her doubts.

The series featured the kidnapping of Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim) by a former member of Negan’s Saviors, The Croat (Željko Ivanek). The key to her son’s rescue was for Maggie to betray Negan and exchange him for her son’s release.

The series has been renewed for a second season; what will it be about?

What will Walking Dead Dead City season 2 be about?

The season finale of Dead City set up many storylines that will be the focus of the upcoming season.

By the end of season 1, Maggie has been able to rescue her son, but their relationship is strained when he confronts her about her obsession with Negan. He tells her this seems to be the most important thing in her life, even over their relationship. She vows to end things with Negan, but no clue is given how she plans to end it.

The entire first season made The Croat out to be the new big bad, but it would be revealed that The Dama (Lisa Emery) is actually the one in charge. She is intrigued by Negan and how he managed his Saviors. She wants him to come alongside her and help her take over and run Manhattan. Negan has changed drastically since he last led the Saviors, so it will be interesting to see what he does in this situation. How will The Croat react to this change in leadership?

Ginny (Mahina Napoleon) was returned to The Bricks, Maggie’s new home, but it is unlikely she will remain there. Even though Negan told her about his part in her father’s death, he is the only father figure she has had for years. Her story will be another interesting one to follow.

Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles) returned to New Babylon after leaving Negan alive. He was tasked with apprehending him for killing several men. He lies and says Negan is dead. He learned a lot of information while he was in Manhattan, and the leader of New Babylon (Jasmin Walker) is very interested in what he discovered there regarding the methane The Croat was producing. She even issues a subtle threat to his daughters. What will she do when she finds out Negan is alive?

There has been no official announcement regarding filming for the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, but the storyline has been set up to be an exciting story.
