4 important Walking Dead survivors who never appeared in the spinoffs

A lot of Walking Dead characters have appeared in the spinoffs, but we're still waiting for these four characters.

The Walking Dead came to an end in 2022 after 11 seasons. When the show ended, it was unclear just how influential some of the key characters would be in the upcoming spinoffs. In the years that followed, we've obviously seen some of those main characters in new stories. There are many characters from the original series who are still alive, but we've yet to see their stories continue.

It makes sense to follow Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Carol (Melissa McBride), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), and others in The Walking Dead spinoffs, but it also makes sense to build out stories from some of the other important characters, too.

Let's take a look at four major characters who survived the events of the original series who have yet to make an appearance in any of the spinoffs. These are not the only characters who have yet to appear, of course!

Judith Grimes

Played by Cailey Fleming

Judith Grimes is probably the most interesting character when you think about what could be for The Walking Dead. Judith isn't the only Grimes still alive at the end of the series, but she's probably the character that a future Walking Dead spinoff should be built around.

What does the world look like when Judith is an adult? What's her life like in her father's absence? I feel like those are the questions Walking Dead fans are asking and why it makes so much sense for Judith to be the future of The Walking Dead franchise.

Will it happen? That remains to be seen, but I don't think any of the current spinoffs make sense for Judith to appear unless they are setting up the next phase of this universe.

Aaron

Played by Ross Marquand

If Judith is the future of The Walking Dead, Aaron is a direct connection to the past and the original series. After a roller coaster ride of a time on The Walking Dead, Aaron became a fan favorite. When we last see Aaron, he's protecting and leading the community of Alexandria, a place he had a lot of history with.

If there's one character from The Walking Dead who hasn't appeared in a spinoff yet that fans would love to see, it's probably Aaron! He could bring Daryl, Carol, or even Maggie up to speed quickly on what life has been like in their absence.

Looking at how fans have responded to Marquand's performance over the years, I think he'd be a welcome addition to any spinoff.

Ezekiel

Played by Khary Payton

Ezekiel is another character who fans would probably love to see. He's an incredibly polarizing character; you either love him or hate him. I'm rather indifferent, overall, but I enjoyed his arc on the series.

It would be very interesting to see how they could work Ezekiel back into the series. There's a lot of potential for an Ezekiel appearance in Dead City, given his relationship with Negan, or in Daryl Dixon should Daryl and Carol make it back to America. Obviously, it remains to be seen if that's a possibility, but I would love to see Ezekiel and another animal friend in any of The Walking Dead spinoffs.

Eugene Porter

Played by Josh McDermitt

Eugene Porter is another polarizing character from The Walking Dead who has yet to make an appearance in any of the spinoffs. Eugene had a long, long run on the series that ended with him nearly getting executed in the Commonwealth. Luckily, he was freed during the revolution, and later, he and Maxxine had a child together.

Eugene could definitely pop back up in Dead City or Daryl Dixon, or another future Walking Dead spinoff in the future, and I think fans would be delighted to see him return.

When you look at character arcs over the show's 11 seasons, Eugene's arc is up there with the best of them. He started a coward, lying to those close to him to help save his own skin, but he end a hero of sorts in the Revolution.

It would be a little more challenging to implement Eugene in either of the current shows, but I would not rule out his return if it makes sense for the story.
