The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon concludes with season 4, due for release next year. With three seasons wrapped and tied neatly with a bow, we've got some questions the spinoff needs to answer.

While we can't argue that season 3 was a stellar and refreshing season, taking place under the warm sun of Spain, castles, old towns, open deserts, and all. But there were several glaring plot points that didn't necessarily get finalized.

We're here to address them. Let's begin!

1. What happened to Laurent?

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was literally built on the foundation of one plot: Daryl needs to return home, but in order to do that, he agrees to safely transport a child deemed a possible savior of the apocalypse. For two seasons, Daryl and the child named Laurent traveled through France, alongside his aunt Isabelle and a few other allies.

The main foe was Genet, the leader of Pouvoir, essentially a European version of the CRM. Not surprisingly, the more Daryl bonded with Laurent, the less concerned he seemed to be about returning home.

Naturally, the safe haven wasn't very safe, leading to obvious twists, unnecessary character deaths, but in the end, Laurent does flee France in a plane that conveniently fit three people, including the pilot. But since then, we haven't seen or heard any news of Laurent.

Did he and Ash (the pilot Carol found and lied to continuously into helping her) make it to the United States? Did they fly somewhere else?

Will Daryl reunite with Laurent?

2. How will Daryl and Carol return home?

By season 2, Carol managed to reunite with Daryl and chose to stay behind with him to find another way back home from France. By season 3, the two managed to find the one other survivor, supposedly, in London, who also happened to have a boat.

The plan, however, to return home via boat fails when they crash ashore in Spain, but the idea of using a boat remains their best option. For the entirety of season 3, they repair and prepare a new boat.

But alas, during the season finale, the boat, filled with all their supplies, burns to the ground. So, will our heroes search for a new boat? Will they be able to find another pilot and leave via airplane? Will their friends and family back home rescue them instead?

As much as we've been loving at least two of the three seasons of the series, we can't ignore the fact that the plot was getting dragged out. The reasons for keeping them from returning home were becoming weak.

3. Is the weaponized walkers plot officially over?

Genet's objective appeared to be the idea of weaponizing walkers. She had experimented upon dozens of innocent people and walkers alike to create a serum that makes them more violent and aggressive.

It was apparent that the serum wasn't perfect as we witnessed walkers attacking each other and some dying instantly from the injection in very grotesque ways. You would think that Pouvoir and all of their plans were destroyed when Genet was killed in season 2.

But we don't necessarily know that. We do not know how far their influence had reached.

We do not know if there is a new chain of command. We do not know who else had access to the serum.

To be clear, these walkers are not the ones who seemingly evolved on The Walking Dead (we'll be discussing that in a minute). We feel like the season 2 wrap-up of Genet and Pouvoir was too good to be true.

An official confirmation would be most helpful.

4. Do the newly evolved, aggressive walkers exist in Europe?

Now, what do we mean by newly evolved walkers? We're talking the ones that The Walking Dead sort of forgot about and then rushed to include at the last minute during the last season.

These were walkers that could turn doorknobs, hop fences, climb ladders, pick up rocks, and seemingly acted more human than previously expected. No, these are not The Whisperers, who were actual people donning walker skin to blend in and survive.

Ironically, from what we could tell at least, we didn't see any of these walkers during Daryl Dixon, nor Dead City, for that matter. So, does this mean they don't exist in France or Spain?

Does this mean they do, and the spin-offs have forgotten about them? Were newly evolved walkers simply the same ones Genet had experimented on that somehow entered the United States without anyone noticing?

We have no clue, but we need answers or at least some sort of consistency.

5. Codron's role

Codron easily became a favorite of ours. Going from bad guy to ally in record time, he's such a complex but interesting character that we couldn't help but feel relieved to know he survived season 2.

When minor characters and extras are so easily disposed of, we were worried about Codron. His brief return in season 3 spawned many theories, but truthfully, we just want a clear-cut answer: what will his role be in the series finale?

Will Codron reunite with Daryl and Carol, perhaps helping them return to the United States? Or was his brief appearance simply to reassure audiences that he did survive and is now living his life wandering alone to find a new purpose?

6. Will Daryl reunite with Rick?

Considering Daryl and Carol can't seem to catch a break and safely return home, maybe home will come to them. Since the beginning of The Walking Dead, Rick and Daryl have become an iconic, powerful, and loyal duo.

Which was funny because they were two totally different people with wildly different personalities. But it became clear they could rely on each other, and their close-knit bond soon turned to brotherhood.

For some time, there was no Daryl without Rick and vice versa. Their loyalties to each other ran deep to the point that when they disagreed or flat-out fought each other, it was rare and devastating to watch.

What better way to conclude Daryl Dixon than to have him reunite with Rick Grimes, who already reunited with Michonne and their children? There isn't any part of TWD fandom that doesn't wish for this.

7. What will the Commonwealth be like when Daryl and Carol return?

The Walking Dead concluded with our heroes surviving in both the Commonwealth and the Hilltop. Daryl and Carol resided in the Commonwealth, which thankfully thrived under their influence and control.

But what has become of their post-apocalyptic utopia since then? We'd like to think and hope that everything is the same as they last left it.

That their friends and family are living actual lives, safe and secure from walkers and other threats. But we don't know for sure.

Carol barely mentioned the Commonwealth since reuniting with Daryl. We'd think if something was amiss, she'd let him know, but we're also used to the series using plot twists and misdirection.

We'd love to see Daryl and Carol actually return to the Commonwealth and see for ourselves how much it had changed and grown. We'd love to hope that the Commonwealth has become the final home for our heroes, where they and the generations to come could live forever.
