The Walking Dead: Dead City is preparing fans for its upcoming season this spring. The series was featured at IGN's recent Fan Fest, where viewers were treated to new information and an exclusive clip from the opening of Dead City season 2.
Manhattan has been reclaimed by nature, as seen in the opening minutes of season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City. (below) The series will premiere its second season exclusively on AMC and AMC+ on May 4, 2025.
Ace Frehley's "New York Groove" sets the tone for the season's opening as viewers see a crew hauling walkers into a church where they are processed into fuel to power the city. And as Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) says in the NYCC teaser trailer, "You see, power equals power."
The new season will bring a whole new set of issues for Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan as they, once again, find themselves on opposing sides. Negan is under the thumb of the Dama (Lisa Emery) and the Croat (Željko Ivanek). This season, Bruegel (Kim Coates), a new "bad guy," will be introduced.
Dead City's first season consisted of six episodes, and fans are excited for the upcoming season, which has been expanded to eight episodes. The highly talented TWDU veteran Michael Satrazemis will direct several episodes, and Cohan will step behind the camera as director for episodes 4 and 6. Eli Jorné, who has been a writer and co-executive producer on The Walking Dead for multiple seasons, returns as showrunner and executive produces with Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead Universe, Cohan, Morgan, Brian Bockrath, Michael Satrazemis and Colin Walsh.
