The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol is the six-part second season of the wildly popular spinoff of The Walking Dead. The story focuses on the titular character, played by actor Norman Reedus, and this season reintroduces Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) to the storyline. Carol was last seen in the main series saying her goodbyes to her best friend, Daryl.

Tread lightly as this article contains spoilers for season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol.

The most recent episode of Daryl Dixon, "La Paradis Pour Toi," picked up immediately following the events of the previous episode, “L’Invisible." Carol and several of Genet's (Anne Charrier) followers are gathered to be shot and reanimated with her super-walker serum. Carol shielded herself behind a burly man and was able to make her escape in a vehicle with Codron tied to it as the super-walkers quickly advanced on them. When they make it to the Nest, Codron, to repay Carol for saving him, takes the lead against the members of the Nest and the walkers. He tells her, "Tell Dixon I did it for the boy."

She finds a wounded Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), locates Daryl, and then, the long-awaited reunion. But wait, didn't we see this scene before? Viewers (me) were hoping for something much more dramatic, like Carol coming in with guns blazing, blowing up a wall to rescue Daryl, or something like that was more what I was hoping for. Instead, this reunion scene was all too similar.

In season 5 of The Walking Dead, Carol saves the day at Terminus and, after being banished
by Rick (Andrew Lincoln) for killing Karen (Melissa Ponzio) and David (Brandon Carroll), reunites with the group. Daryl's reaction in this scene mirrors the one featured in the Daryl Dixon spinoff. It felt like a bit of a letdown after so much build-up to this blessed moment.

It was great to see Carol standing at the end of the corridor where she and Daryl fought off the same group. After experiencing the loss of Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), they begin their search for Laurent
(Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), who escaped the Nest with Fallou ( Eriq Ebouaney). When they discover that Laurent and Fallou are no longer in the cave, their search continues, leading them to the house of a couple who, of course, betray them to Genet's (Anne Charrier) group, leading to her death.

Carol wants to know everything about Daryl's life since she's last seen him but he is reluctant to share. Even when she tells him that she has a plane ready to take them home he seems disinterested and focuses on Laurent. They seem to get along well at times and hopefully the final two episodes will see them back in sync because the dynamic duo is a sight to behold.
